Something New Going On…

Some of you may have already noticed that I’m working on a project to produce a children’s book.  There will be a hardcover edition and an ebook version.  The story’s mostly written and the illustrations are currently being produced by my daughter, Rachel.  The challenge for me is how to generate some interest in the creation process.  To start with, that meant putting together a new website and even a new Facebook page.  The website is called Musings From Cooper and it will feature a blog that includes upcoming information on the progress of the book and the illustrations, some funny stories along the way, some video excerpts and some free giveaways.  It’s a work in progress and I expect it to evolve over time.  It will a blast!

The challenge for me is to figure out the most effective types of social media to help me get the word out.  Because I’m targeting families with small children and grandparents, Facebook is a good place to start.  Because my audience on Facebook is rather small, I am hoping others will “like” and share my posts so that I can reach more people.  That is a bit of a challenge but the more people that see what we’re creating, the more interest we should be able to generate.  But…I think I need more friends!

Another method of getting the word out by using Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter and LinkedIn.  I confess I am not as versed in those mediums, so I have a bit of a learning curve, although I am trainable.  I’m an upandcomer on Snapchat because, as our daughter Sara says, grandparents will do almost anything for a video.  I think she’s right!!!
