The Glass Castle – Jeannette Walls
In-between Book Club Reads – The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls
I just finished reading The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls. Wow, what a terrific read! The story is about a dysfunctional family whose kids somehow manage to rise above their eccentric, sometimes well-meaning but mostly irresponsible, parents. That the author tells her own story makes it even more compelling but it’s the matter-of-fact way she weaves her words through the telling of everyday experiences that makes you want to root for her and her brother and sisters in spite of all the road blocks her parents throw out there. It’s a testament to resilience and perseverance. Well worth the time to read. I heard it’s been made into a movie that comes out this month. Well then – read the book first before seeing the filtered version on the big screen. Awesome book! For more information, check out this link.
