Video Sampler #1 – Ken Burns Effect
This is a video sampler of the Ken Burns effect on a picture of my grandma. Notice how it seems that the camera is moving across the picture, first to focus on her hands and then on her face. This is a static picture and it’s the video creating the effect. The Ken Burns Effect is a great way to tell a story through photographs when you don’t necessarily have live video feed. It keeps it interesting for the viewer – movement is important!
For this video, the focus is on memories, hence my grandma’s photo. If you listen carefully, you can hear an excerpt of my version of Down in the Valley in the background, played on my dulcimer. I thought it fit the mood and my grandma taught me that song.
