Video Sampler #5 – Color Pass

Here’s another ten second demonstration of a video technique – color pass.  Changing the color of the video can change the mood of the subject.  Color can set tones, emotions and moods in video.  Even the absence of color can be evocative.  Color is also important in the clothing or objects used in video shots and can even point out the good guys and the bad guys in old westerns, for example, without ever explicitly saying so.  Think back to some movies you’ve seen.

This video uses the color pass technique to evoke emotion with the subject.  I changed the coloring in the video to more of a yellow/green tone to evoke nostalgia for the memories associated with objects that used to belong to family members.  In this case, the skates used to belong to my husband’s grandfather.  Simply made but so sturdy.
